Sophie and Bomber

I have heard people talk about horses picking their riders, but I had never seen it in action. Bomber is a young horse at the stables where we ride that has only had a rider on his back for a little over a year. In the spring when Sophie's first horse Misty starting having problems with laminitis, the suggestion was made for her to try out Bomber. I wasn't too keen on the idea at first because I had seen Bomber be true to his name (bombing off), but I decided to let her give it a try. WOW, the two of them are a match made in heaven.
First off, Sophie is a very confident rider with plenty of skill to go with it, but to watch her ride Bomber is an absolute joy. Even other people have commented on how much the two of them get along. There are even times it looks like Bomber is smiling when she is riding him. For the most part, Sophie can get Bomber to do just about anything she asks of him. He has learned to be a pretty good jumper with her and going fast is never a problem for the two of them.
Sophie has no fear riding Bomber, and it is funny to watch her competitive side come out when she goes against other riders while on Bomber. The two of them are almost unstoppable...
Sophie does ride other horses at the stables for lessons and sometimes I even let her ride my horse Lulu, but when all is said & done she would prefer to be on Bomber.
